Jackalope Knives was founded by Steve Hotz, an Army Veteran of the Gulf War. He also spent many years after the military serving his community. In 2018, He sought to give back to the community once again by opening a non-profit organization with the goal of helping other military veterans as well as 1st responders and law enforcement fight against PTSD and other stresses that come from serving in the line of duty. And in 2022, he opened Jackalope Knives along with his wife Amy Hotz, who owns Swamp Fox Leather, and two other veterans, Dennis Smith and Kevin Tooley.

All four of them pour their passion and attention to detail to bring their customers the best quality knives. They are proud to have served people like Bruce Mitchell from the hit TV show Swamp People.

Anthony is an Air Force veteran who retired in 2016 and has since brought his passion for the outdoors and his love of helping other people to many customers over the years. He began his adventures once he retired from the Air Force, working with the Missouri Conservation Department, and continued pursuing his passions when he moved to Virginia in 2019, where he spent his time working with the organization The Fallen Outdoors as Pro Staff. Then, in August of 2020, he made fishing his new career as a Vetreprenuer (Veteran Entrepeneur) through the help of an amazing non-profit organization, Warrior Rising.
